The Foundational Improv Class | Tuesdays (6/23-8/11) from 6-8 PM
The Foundational Class is an 8 week course covering topics each week to help you pull off a successful scene. This is not an intro or level 1 class, I treat it with the same advanced lens I do all my classes, but it is open to all levels and it is beginner friendly.
Whether you are new to the scene or need to brush up on some skills with intentionality, each week is filled with exercises to harness your strengths while building your skills.
The reason this class exists is that a lot of the time improvisers will harp on learning different formats without mastering the tools to pull off a successful scene. It doesn’t matter what format you do if your scene work is not strong.
Break free from rules and expectations and learn how to truly be present in your work with this class.
If this session does not work out or fills up quickly, don’t worry! I change up the days and times every session ranging from Sunday-Tuesday, and may also open up another Foundational this session depending on interest.
Please email me at madsjoy.me@gmail.com if you have any questions or need a payment plan.
Where is Class
Bibliotech on McLendon - 1390 McLendon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
Street parking available
When is Class
Tuesdays (6/23-8/11) from 6-8 PM + A Grad Show (Date TBD)
NOTE: If the class does not exceed min capacity, I will refund you and get you the next round. Classes range from 12-17 people and the lesson plans are structured for that capacity. However, there is a LOT of interest this round and classes fill up fast, so don't sit on it for too long.
Absents
If you end up having to miss a class due to sickness or travel, there will be options to catch you up, so don't let that deter you from jumping in on the fun! We can spend 10 min before or after class talking through the exercises you missed. Preferably, do not miss more than 2 classes - this is for your sake since each week builds off the last.
Refunds
Limited refunds are available. When you secure your spot, you are taking a spot from someone else. As this program is solely run by me, if you end up dropping the class within the first week, you will get a portion of your money back. After the second week if you choose to drop, there are no refunds.
Other info: a big part of this class is that I'm teaching it and try hard to not have subs so that there is consistency! If by chance I get sick or a conflict arises (which has only happened 5 times in 4 years), we will reschedule to make up for the time missed. Conflicts come up, but rescheduling and catching everyone up will always be a priority.
This class has been refined over the last 4 years and I have had over 300 students! Excited to hopefully work with you this session (or the next session if this time doesn't work out).
